This is a leisurely 90 minute round trip from Bowness to Lakeside aboard one of the lake's steamers. The Yellow Cruise features lovely views of period homes, beautiful gardens, unspoiled woodland and much more. The cruise also features detailed commentary on the area's rich history, heritage and the many attractions which surround Windemere. The cruise runs daily during the spring.
An adult ticket costs around £10.80 and a family ticket (for 2 adults and up to 3 children) is available for only £30. Many prominent historic literary figures have resided here in the Lake District including the much-loved children's author Beatrix Potter. The Lake District of Beatrix Potter tour from Lake District Tours tells the story of Potter's fascinating life and covers many of the locations that inspired her work.
Highlights include a stop at Coniston Water (the third largest lake in the region) to see the Coniston Old Man fell (which presides over Coniston village and its waters), and a visit to Hawkstead, home of the grammar school attended by William Wordsworth – another of the area's popular literary figures. You'll also visit Hill Top, the former home of Beatrix Potter, which is now managed by the National Trust.
