Lights

Lanarkshire Tinting are proud installers of tail-light and headlight tint. For many years, we have been providing custom lights to our clients.

We can install two different types of tint in our studio.

1) Fly-eye is an easy to install perforated film which is applied to the exterior of the light to darken the overall look of the lens. The product itself that we use is called SPI-Vision and comes with a lifetime guarantee. There are many imitation headlight tints that mimic SPI but they cannot match the quality of material and adhesive.

SPI-Vision (Fly-eye) is the only 'MOT pass' tint that can be used on the headlight. This is because the overall light output is not affected by the product.

2)VHT-Custom Tail-light Tint is our unique tint for the rear lights. Lanarkshire Tinting have been experimenting with this method of tinting for some time in order to mimic a factory-look tint. We pride ourselves on the overall look of our custom tail-lights and also the customisation it gives the customer to add their own touch in terms of darkness and detailing. Our tints take the standard bright and vibrant red of a basic tail-light cluster and darkens it down as much as required while still maintaining the glossy factory finish. Most of our customers opt for our trademark 'Cherry Red' look which replicates the new VW range and some new BMW models. In the past this has made for some very unique work

VHT tail-lights are unique to Lanarkshire Tinting, so please have a look around our work in the gallery to learn more about this service. Again, our tail-light tin tint is totally MOT-pass legal and will not inhibit any certificates in the future.

MOT rules and regulations state:

1.2: Headlights
A pair of headlights must: emit light of substantially the same colour and intensity and emit a steady colour of either white or yellow. They should be visible from a reasonable distance.

1.3: Brake lights
A brake light must emit a steady red light. At least 50% of the lamp must be visible from the rear. Light must be visible from a reasonable distance

1.4: Reflectors
At least 50% of the reflecting surface must be visible from a reasonable distance.

1.5: Indicators
Every indicator must emit amber light. At least 50% of the lamp must be visible. Light must be visible from a reasonable distance.

1.6: Masks, or Converter Kits

A headlamp or rear tail lamp altered in this way is not a reason for MOT rejection so long as light outputs are not adversely reduced, it emits the appropriate/correct colour and the mask is securely attached.
